Set against a background of richly drawn characters, each of whom are exploring their own fate and destiny, the film focuses on the story of a young divorced mother (Sandra Oh) raising her 12 year old daughter, Mindy. When Mindy sets her sights on finding her mother a new boyfriend by using ancient Chinese magic, the results are unexpected, hysterically funny and heart warming. The score features an exotic blend of ancestral Asian instruments and prepared electric guitar, nestled within an orchestral setting.
