SKINWALKERS

2006

The score for Skinwalkers is a melange of both traditional orchestral elements and digitally manipulated modern and medieval instruments. Andrew used his research on Japanese and Sudanese percussion to create rhythmic structures on which much of the orchestral movement is based. In addition, the Japanese percussion influence is evidenced by Taiko drums which can be heard cementing the beat structure in many places throughout the score.

“Skinwalker’s music has an astonishing richness that just might stand as the best lupine score since Pino Donaggio’s beastly strings for The Howling” IF Magazine

“Action-filled but persuasive, with a subtle understatement of thematic melody that belies the typical sound-mass designed horror score we’re hearing in most films like these.” Buysoundtrax

“Strengths are numerous. While tutti ensemble plays often, composer isn’t afraid to write lean, transparent ideas for violins, solos for oboe, other haunting colors… Superbly recorded in Toronto.” Intrada

“Way worthier a dark beast of a score than the majority of its related scores in the genre…” - Scoremagacine

“A lot of fun to listen to with plenty of musical gestures that will make you pay attention to Lockington in the future.” - Cinemusical

Two packs of werewolves, divided by principles are signaled by the moon of the coming of an ancient prophecy. A small boy named Timothy (Matthew Knight) approaches his 13th birthday, unaware this marks the time of his transformation. Timothy has been raised by his mother Rachel (Rhona Mitra), his grandmother (Barbara Gordon), his Uncle Jonas (Elias Koteas), his cousin Katherine (Sarah Carter) and her boyfriend, Adam (Shawn Roberts). Rachel and her son Timothy have been unaware that the rest of the family are good werewolves that have guarded Timothy since birth. They know that Timothy is a half blood, and will control the destiny of the family. But they also know that Timothy’s power will put him in danger, for there are other werewolves that revel and embrace their blood-lust that are prepared to kill to preserve their way of life. These werewolves, led by Varek (Jason Behr), Zo (Kim Coates) and Sonya (Natassia Malthe), are hell bent on finding Timothy…their kin
